This is a process about discovering why a focus on weight loss isn’t the answer. You’ve already been down that road numerous times and it hasn’t gotten you anywhere. It is about getting to know yourself in a brand new way. It’s about learning how to be a friend – a best friend – to yourself and gaining an understanding of why you deserve this.
If you believe that:
- You will feel happier when you lose ___ number of pounds
- Food is the problem (sweets, carbs, etc…)
- Certain foods are either “good” or “bad”
- You need to exert more willpower and try harder in order to finally reach your goal
- By reaching your goal, you will finally be happy
You’re not alone. This is what you, and most of us, have been led to believe. It is what society tells you to believe and it is what marketers want you to believe.
I’m here to tell you that it’s NOT about food, it’s NOT about the number on the scale and it’s NOT about your lack of trying. There is nothing wrong with you but I’m sure you can find a million things to try and prove me wrong. I get it. I used to feel this way too.
Your relationship with food is only the symptom. The issue runs much, much deeper. Food obsession and constantly thinking about what you “can” and “can’t” have is what sprouted, but the root – the seed – runs deep beneath the surface.
It’s all about how you feel about yourself. It’s that there is a voice that fundamentally believes something is wrong with you and when you identify with it, you will prove to yourself why it’s true.
It’s time to stop. Take back your power. Get to the root and transform your relationship with yourself. THAT is where you will find happiness. And when you are happy, you will want to support your body and mind as part of your whole being.
